Diggin' Dinos Statue Raises Awareness for Autism Spectrum Disorder - Sponsor's CEO also runs Autism Center Founded After Son's Diagnosi
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) June 20, 2007 -- St. Croix Solutions and Holland Center recently teamed up to sponsor a "Diggin' Dino" statue to raise Autism Awareness in honor of the Science Museum of Minnesota's 100th anniversary. The Diggin' Dinos summer celebration dinosaur statues began appearing in the streets of Saint Paul and the parks of Minneapolis on May 28, and will remain in place through Labor Day weekend.
Diggin' Dinos were painted by local artists, and Shane Anderson was chosen by the sponsors because of his personal ties to the disorder. "We were happy to be a part of this project, especially because it was for such a great cause" said Anderson. Anderson's design features the dinosaur as a jigsaw puzzle, a common symbol of Autism. The "Autism Spectrumasaurus" is located near the entrance of the museum and one of the first statues visited as locals seek out all 60 dinos around the Twin Cities.
Jennifer VanDerHorst, CEO of St. Croix Solutions, founded Holland Center in 2004 after discovering her son, Cade, was autistic. "It's incredibly important to me that Cade and other children with autism spectrum disorder have a safe and healthy environment where they can learn and grow," said VanDerHorst. "The success of St. Croix Solutions has been a tremendous contributor to launching the Center and everything we've managed to accomplish there. We're all very excited about this opportunity to heighten awareness of Autism while also supporting the Science Museum of Minnesota."
